World: UNHCR calls on states to offer places and save lives after refugee resettlement hit a record low in 2020

An estimated 1.44 million refugees are in urgent need of resettlement globally, but only 22,770 were resettled through UNHCR – the lowest numbers the agency has witnessed in almost two decades.
